Huiyun Liang 

I offer private piano lessons for students of all ages and levels. I believe music carries on the best values of our human society. Students will not only learn how to read and play music, but also appreciate music history and cultures, discover the meaning beyond music notations, explore their own potentials of creativity and imaginations, and share their passions and love of music to the community.

 

As a piano teacher, I continue refining my teaching approach by discovering all possibilities of teaching and communication:

• I value techniques: a good technique is the foundation to convey your musical ideas.

 

• I value music reading: learning to read music is just like learning to read a book. Effective music reading is beyond reading single notes, but patterns, harmony and musical structures.

 

• I value interpretation: there is no end for interpreting one piece. Music is all possibilities.

 

• I value self-learning and problem solving: part of my teaching is to guide students practice efficiently at home and be able to resolve problems independently.

 

• I value music listening: good listening is the key to sensitive playing.

 

• I value creativity: I encourage students to think outside the box, and incorporate various life experiences to music making.

 

 

Additionally, 

• I value equality: students are free to express their own ideas. I teach students, and also learn from them. 

 

• I value technology in teaching: lessons are no longer limited by time and space. Technology allows students to learn anywhere and anytime. 

 

• I value good attitude: set goals and keep them up! I encourage students to have this positive attitude for learning everything!
